- Offer twice weekly food distribution, Wednesdays & Thursday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
- Conduct one-on-one personal need ascertainment
- Motivate and guide individuals toward adult education and vocational training
- Provide basic life necessities and food to local homeless and homeless ministries
- Serve 2,500 boxes of groceries and 2,500 turkeys at the annual Christmas Food Distribution

Who Is Eligible For Food at Reaching Out?
You are eligible to receive food from Reaching Out if you are struggling financially & live in one of the following zip codes:
95030, 95033, 95111, 95112, 95118, ,95123, 95124, 95125, 95126, 95127, 95031, 95032, 95133, 95135, 95136, 95138, and Cathedral of Faith Members in any zip code
This includes senior citizens, disabled citizens, families with children, singles, homeless individuals and Cathedral of Faith members.
All Other zip codes must contact the Food Connection at (408) 266-8950 to register for food. Eligible people may come twice a month on Wednesdays or Thursdays, 10 a.m. – 12 noon.
Food Recipient Requirements
Bring these items when you come to Reaching Out:
1 • Picture Identification (Driver’s License or California I.D.)
(Head of Household must have a picture I.D. with the correct address)
2 • Current PG&E bill, Telephone bill, Cell phone bill, or Water bill with correct name and address on it
You will be required to fill out an application for an HMIS card which you will receive the same day. The HMIS card helps expedite your future visits.

History
Founded in 1979 out of a church closet, the program now operates from a 16,000 foot distribution complex. Reaching Out is able to serve 40,000 families annually, providing food for 180,000 people. The California Department of Agriculture has recognized Reaching Out as one of the most efficient food programs in the state.

We have been in partnership with the Second Harvest Food Bank for over 4 years. If you live in the San Jose area and live in the 95122 area code you are welcome to come and receive variety of different foods, fruits and vegetables. Our day of Distribution is every Monday at 4:30 pm unless other wise noted. The only information you will need to register is:
1. Picture ID
2. 2nd form of ID such as a house Bill, Car Insurance or Registration, Etc.
*Both forms of ID must have same name and address.*
